A frec de pell i vi ofereix una mirada íntima a la tendresa. Les obres de Zina López posen l’accent en la trobada, en el refugi sota l’ombra refrescant de les vinyes. Pintures, calaixos, cartes i poesia convergeixen en aquest espai i es posen al servei de la celebració, dels rituals i de la sensibilitat. L’empordanès Albert Carol hi posa la paraula. Les poesia d’aquest filòleg i bibliotecari de la Bisbal ha servit d’inspiració a l’artista. L’erotisme, la sensibilitat i la seducció es donen la mà les seves obres.

Zina López, artista multidisciplinària, pintora, il·lustradora i art-terapeuta, és nascuda al Maresme, però la seva vida corre en paral·lel a Cadaqués des dels anys 90. Des de llavors, participa de la vida cultural del poble. Amb una formació en Història de l’Art i Art-teràpia, també ha il·lustrat títols com “El Drac Tombarella” i “De Dalt i de Mar”. La seva obra combina il·lustració i pintura, explorant el món de la creació artística des de la profunditat i la intimitat.

Amb anterioritat, Zina López ha exposat a la Galeria Marges U de Cadaqués, la Destil·leria de Mataró, Miim Spai D’Art a Barcelona i l’espai d’art d’Alta Alella. Aquesta nova exposició, A frec de pell i vi és un diàleg íntim i tendre entre la imatge i la paraula, entre la pintura i la poesia de l’Albert Carol. Us convidem a venir a la inauguració per brindar i explorar plegats els racons més tendres de la quotidianitat.

Des del primer viatge a l’Illa de Lesbos (Grècia) el 2016, Amb Les Teves Mans no ha parat de treballar en col·laboració amb altres entitats establertes al territori. El dia 19 d’abril serà una oportunitat per conèixer la tasca humanitària dels seus cooperants i les causes que empeny a marxar del seu país a milers de persones a través de fotografies fetes a Gàmbia, Grècia i el Marroc. Durant la presentació Espelt oferirà una copa de vi.

Amb Les Teves Mans és una associació sense ànim de lucre que treballa en zones d’especial desigualtat i vulnerabilitat per culpa de la manca de vies segures per a les persones migrants. Està centrada en l’àmbit sanitari i entre altres accions, el 2016 van crear Dentist4refugees per atendre la salut bucodental de 11.204 persones refugiades a Grècia.

In 2019, Luis Izquierdo-Mosso resumes the photography of stages built in miniature. The goal then was to illustrate the book 20Toneladas, Contemporary Art for Tourists (Ed. Lapislatzuli, 2020). From the pandemic confinement, the artist begins to feel the need to photograph places built on the workshop table.

Interiors, landscapes, buildings, movie sets, picture or photo sets. Any place seen, remembered or dreamed, that seems interesting and can be reproduced without great difficulty, becomes a photographic motif.

Some of the images in this exhibition are illustrations of the photo book 23Museos (2023), which we will also present on July 8, taking advantage of the opening of the exhibition.

Luis Izquierdo-Mosso is a multimedia artist who began his career as a painter in 1977 and later moved on to work with photography and other graphic image production techniques. He has curated exhibitions such as Dalimitar at the Empordà Museum in Figueres and the Jaume Morera Museum in Lleida. He has also exhibited in Bilbao, Madrid, Valencia, Girona and Figueres. On the 8th he will accompany us to the cellar and we will toast together. We look forward to seeing you there!

The situation in South Sudan is extremely serious. According to the data provided by the Foundation, the majority of children in this African country are orphaned and suffer from severe malnutrition. Many children end up committing suicide because they don’t have food.

On December 22 at 7 p.m. we will inaugurate this exhibition with a wine tasting Espelt , sausages Llavora and gentilesa cheeses from Mas d’en Balda, with a minimum contribution of €15 that will go directly to raise funds for this organization that is doing good work there. In addition, you can also purchase the paintings on the same day and until the end of the exhibition.

Nzuri Daima is a foundation created to promote social change in areas of particular inequality and vulnerability of rights, focused on the creation of specific projects to promote education from culture as a means of transformation, and to achieve higher living standards fair and sustainable in communities, with a special emphasis on children and the most vulnerable groups.

After years of caring for South Sudanese refugees in northern Uganda, the post-pandemic situation and inflation due to the war in Ukraine has led the Foundation to work directly also in South Sudan, where the situation is so desperate that children are killing themselves because of hunger.

The work that the artist presents this weekend plays with color and has a clear provocative intention. The artist offers a particular view of the garden and the products of the land. In addition, he reflects on historiography, identity, tradition and Catalan cuisine.

Ernest Abentín, Ernest Abentín, photographer born and resident in Barcelona, works on both sides of the border (Empordà and Catalunya Nord). His work focuses on culinary themes and he has worked as an assistant to Francesc Guillament, renowned gastronomic photographer of the creations of El Bulli, Bodega de Can Roca or the chef Paco Pérez. During his stay in Paris he had contact with the world of dance and hence his interest in the body, movement and dance.

On a more personal level, Abentín has dedicated himself to photography about the territory, the people and gastronomy from a daily and local point of view. The food, the typical and homemade product receive a very personal look that goes beyond the photography of gastronomic dishes.

The Croma Catalana exhibition is precisely this x-ray of localism, eating, rituals, local products, the simplicity of customs. A vision of the territory and the people from a chromatic point of view.

Les fotografies de Montse Capel, artista empordanesa formada en disseny de moda i en fotografia, es mouen entre la intimitat i el misteri, entre la sensualitat i la nostàlgia. Precisament aquesta barreja hipnòtica és la que trobareu si veniu a la inauguració de l’exposició mynameismoon que tindrà lloc dissabte 19 de març a les 12 h.

Durant dos mesos tindrem exposada aquests autoretrats que documenten la relació sensible entre la soledat i el desig, una relació que va passar per moments delicats els dies que vam passar tancats a casa. Aquesta aproximació íntima de l’artista a situacions pròpies ens evoca amb sensibilitat la nostàlgia per les coses passades, i també amb el misteri, un ambient provocador, sensual. 

Montse Capel busca amb el seu treball de fotografies íntimes en blanc i negre un espectador còmplice, a través de les xarxes socials o ara en exposicions com aquesta. La inauguració de mynameismoon tindrà lloc al Celler Espelt el 19 de març a les 12 h, hi intervindrà l’artista, i també Rafa Camps, comissari del cicle d’exposicions del Celler Espelt, i Anna Espelt, directora d’Espelt Viticultors. This week will take place the 2nd edition of Dry Stone Week. More than 100 activities that vindicate, update and put these spaces of popular architecture and biodiversity at the center. The conference, organized by various organizations throughout the territory, is a good starting point if you want to know more about these rural buildings.

Dry stone is an ancient technique of separating fields, but also of gaining cultivation space in irregular terrain. In addition, over the years we have seen that the vineyards that had dry stone walls nearby were more resilient and with more biodiversity, since the holes between stones are natural dens for all kinds of insectivorous species and small reptiles, amphibians , birds At Mas Marés we have rebuilt more than 3000 m of dry stone walls because it is part of the our landscape and our heritage, but above all because they are the refuge of a rich and powerful ecosystem.

Nia Delfau, a Galician-Catalan by heart and nomad by choice, is an artist who has lived in the Empordà for some time. Her photographs are the result of proces of learning after going through the world of design, fashion and art. On Saturday we open the photography exhibition Com una planta [As a plant] in the Celler Espelt.

When she returned from Tokyo, after a few months working with the renowned photographer Osamu Yokonami, he settled in the Empordà and decided to create with the small moments, with everyday life, with what was happening near her unnoticed. Com una planta project is the result of this patient observation of change, of the little things that move without noise and of the artist’s relationship with nature and flowers. Every photo a mirror of the permanent change of life. Nia Delfau has worked as an art director for various design studios and with renowned brands such as  The Animals Observatory. This exhibition is the patient observation on his return from Japan, with the calm that nature surrounds us, a look that invites us to focus on the present. The artist has also recently launched the Casa Delfau project, a creative space in which he develops his most personal part in the form of his own brand, gallery and projects. Com una planta is his first photography exhibition in the Empordà.

The exhibition that will accompany us in the coming weeks is a creation made from the colors of wine in connection with the artist’s intimacy. With remnants of vines, roots and thoriums collected at different times, Monjo explores textures and colors in a unique way that connects her to the earth. A work that expresses itself over time and uses these natural elements to welcome, embrace and feel it. Come and discover this initiatory adventure that begins on earth and ends in a sensory expression, as does wine.

The inauguration will be on May 15th at 12 noon in the Espelt winery and you can see the exhibition for the next two months. Admission is free.

We are very excited to reopen this space accompanied by the expertise of Rafael Camps, visual artist responsible for the cultural program of the winery. Long live to culture and its creators!

When we were young, sweet Grenache was a wine to welcome guests that was generally served in cheap cups that one was offered upon the arriving to a home, together with another traditional Empordà treat, Galetes Barceloneta. Our grandfather had noticed that not all sweet Grenaches were equal and after considerable investigation, he arrived to the conclusion that the best were the ones kept/aged from one year to the next.

Perhaps without being aware of it, those viticulturists that made this wine in their homes had “re-engineered” the traditional Solera system in that they refilled the barrels annually with the sweet Grenache and left it to oxidize. The Airam was the first wine we made at our home and is still the one that we love the most. Today our Airam sees two years of oxidative aging in the barrel where it is refilled with our Garnatxa de l’Empordà. One wine leads to another, like the roots of a tree that climb up to form the branches to the sky.

Airam is very friendly to have with panellets (marzipan balls covered with pine nuts) and roasted chestnuts, dark chocolate or chocolate spreads, hazelnuts, and anything where we find a lingering, sweet finish. The Garnatxa de l’Empordà is better had during the spring, and it pairs well with the brunyols from Empordà (basically a Catalan donut hole.)

Given its flavor profile, we have created this cocktail that we’ve named, Tòria. It serves to compliment the dessert after a meal or when the classic discussion arises of, “don’t open the Cava, I want a cocktail” or “don’t make cocktails, we’re opening the Cava”. The Cava brings a touch of yeastiness that complements the other flavor characteristics of brunyols, lemon peel, and anise. To garnish the glass and chill the drink, we also put in a frozen grape–of Grenache naturally.

Tòria’s coctel

• 30 ml sweet Grenache from l’Empordà
• 10 ml sweet anise liquor
• 10 ml limoncello
• Cava Escuturit to fill up the glass
• One frozen grape

All of the ingredients need to be well-chilled. Put the grape at the bottom of a champagne flute. Add the sweet Grenache, sweet anise liquor, and limoncello. Finish filling the glass with the Escuturit Cava and give it one gentle stir with a bar spoon.
